On May 22, 2018 we held the first Eskers Plant-in. 5500 trees (lodgepole pine, white/black spruce and Douglas fir) donated by the PRT and IFS tree nurseries were planted by a volunteer crew of local Eskers neighbours, UNBC staff and students,  Aleza Lake Research Forest (ALFR) staff , and BC Park rangers. Planting was under the coordination and instruction of ALRF.

This initial planting project is just a small portion of the field to be restored — next year we hope to add a further section and add some ecological complexity to this first project.

That day also saw the installation of 4 bat condos and a walking bridge over the recently restored ephemeral stream.
